Ingredients
  

Crackers

  • 35-40 crackers saltine crackers or substitute graham crackers, Ritz, or pretzels

Toffee

  • 1 cup butter salted or unsalted
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Toppings

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with foil and spray with nonstick spray.
  • Arrange saltine crackers evenly in rows across the pan.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth, then boil for 3 minutes.
  • Pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 5 minutes, until bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit 2 minutes, then spread smooth with a spatula.
  • Top with chopped pecans (or toppings of choice).
  • Cool completely at room temp or refrigerate until hardened. Break into pieces and serve.
