Ingredients
  

For the sandwich base

  • 8 slices thick brioche or challah bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter for the pan

For the filling

  • 4 ounces cream cheese left out to soften
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar plus extra for the final touch
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries cut into thin slices
  • ¼ cup strawberry preserves

For the coating

  • 2 large eggs straight from the fridge
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk

Preparation

  • Mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on four slices of bread.
  • Arrange sliced strawberries on top and dollop with strawberry preserves.
  • Place the remaining bread slices on top and press down gently to seal.
  • Beat together eggs and milk in a shallow dish.
  • Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture until coated.
  • Heat skillet over medium heat, melt butter and cook each sandwich for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Transfer fried sandwiches to a plate lined with paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.
