Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (for glaze)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then mix in lemon juice, zest, and vanilla extract.
  • Stir in flour and salt until just combined.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 22–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely in the pan before adding glaze.
  • For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth.
  • Spread glaze evenly over cooled brownies and chill for 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice and zest for the best flavor. Do not overbake to keep the brownies moist and tender. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness. Add a few drops of lemon extract for extra zing, if desired.
